The Central Shakers have won their first game of the season in style, defeating the Northern Storm by 67 points
The Central Shakers were on fire in the first quarter of the game, putting pressure on the Storm at both ends of the field. The Shakers were able to turn defence into attack kicking 3 goals in the first quarter and keeping the Storm to a solitary point.
The Shakers continued this form into the second quarter. Newcomer Rebecca Lenehan got one back for the Storm but key Shakers forward Makenna Jones continues to make a name for herself as a goal scoring machine, punishing the opposition when she gets in front of goal. The Shakers kicked four goals in the quarter and held a 41 point lead heading into the half time break.
The third quarter saw a slight momentum shift. After a tough first half, Storm defenders Tui Lelo and Emily Hunter brought the backline together and showed what the Storms defence can do, forcing the Shakers to work for everything and keeping the Shakers to only 8 points for the quarter.
The Shakers returned to their first half form to finish game. Keeping the Storm scoreless and kicking 3 more goals to extend their lead out to 67.
