Draft Preview: Hornets buzz into the draft

After another impressive season in the Auckland AFL, Howick Hornets players Jay Green, Harley Jenkins and Wade Eatts have all been included into the 2018 National Draft to see which team they will line up for in the 2019 AFL New Zealand Premiership.

Along with the above players mentioned, previously featured Travis Walker and Luke Williams will also be involved in the draft.

AFL New Zealand media previews the three Hornets players ahead of next week’s National Draft which takes place on Wednesday the 28th of November from 8.00pm.

Jay Green

Position: Midfielder

The recently crowned Auckland AFL Best and Fairest winner will make his debut in the Premiership in 2019.

Jay is a ball magnet, who always is involved with the contest.

A great runner of the football, Jay may be small in stature but he has a massive impact on the field popping up all over the ground.

Harley Jenkins

Position: Half Forward

Harley Jenkins has been labelled ‘an absolute gun’ on the footy field and is a natural athlete with a superb vertical leap.

Defensively, he is strong in the air and is known to take strong contested marks.

Wade Eatts

Position: Defender

Wade Eatts is an experienced campaigner who has great leadership qualities and knowledge of the game.

His ability as a defender to read the ball movement ensures he is at the right place at the right time and is strong in a one one contest.

He provides a big voice from the back directing the players in front of him and he has the smarts to use the footy well to relieve defensive pressure.
