Draft round up: Crows nab talented Nahu

The Western Crows have secured the services of talented midfielder Blake Nahu for the 2020 Premiership season. Nahu will add speed and skill to an already full midfield as the Crows look to become the first Premiership side to go back to back.

Tall defender Luke De Roo from Canterbury and Waitakere Magpies small forward Clayton Walters also joined the club.

Category 1: Luke De Roo

Position: Defender

Luke De Roo is a tall defender who has seen a fast rise in his ability over the last 12 months.

Luke attends St Bedes College and represented New Zealand for the Academy Level 2 side alongside Kieran in April this year.

An all round athlete, Luke enjoys the physicality that comes with AFL and plays for the Mid Canterbury Eagles in the Canterbury Australian Football League (CAFL).

Category 2: Clayton Walters

Position: Forward

Clayton Walters has developed very quickly with AFL over the past four seasons and will be a welcome addition to the defending Premiers in 2020.

A former rising star, Walters is not shy committing to any contest.

His fast pace and low centre of gravity makes him the perfect small forward and uses his pace to beat the opposition defenders.

Clayton does the fundamentals amazingly well and doesn’t try to over complicate the game which makes him stand out.

Category 3: Blake Nahu

Position: Midfield

Blake Nahu from the Waikato has a big impact in the sport in a short amount of time.

Nahu has been a part of NZ Warriors development sides in the past and brings relative Rugby League skills over to the game of AFL.

Now in his fourth season and having grown into a senior player, Nahu will be one of the top players in next year’s AFL New Zealand Premiership.
