First AFLNZ Women’s combine to debut in Wellington

The first ever AFL New Zealand Women’s National Combine will make its debut at the ASB Sport Centre in Wellington on April 21st and will test the best up and coming Women’s AFL players in the country.

Headlined by International Ironwoman Danielle McKenzie, the combine will be overseen by AFL staff who will make the trip over for the event. McKenzie has recently returned to NZ after a Summer competing in the NutriGrain Ironwoman series over in Australia.

The combine will be just one part of a showcase week for AFL New Zealand, tying in with the ANZAC Day weekend. The New Zealand Senior team will continue its rivalry against the AFL’s Australian Under 17 team on April 24th at Westpac Stadium, whilst New Zealand youth teams will take part in a 2 game series.

Attendees will complete a variety of tests in front of AFL New Zealand staff and AFL team representatives and each of the events within the programme has a focus on fun and looks to provide those involved with motivation to improve themselves in varying facets of skill and fitness.

Vertical leap, Agility, 20 metre Sprint and the Beep test are all measured at the National Combine.
