Former NZ Falcon set to make his NRL Debut for the Melbourne Storm

Former New Zealand Falcon and NZ 7’s star, William Warbrick has been named to start for the Melbourne Storm in the NRL’s opening game for the 2023 season.

Will Warbrick participated in the AFL New Zealand Youth Programme in 2015 before breaking out in a stellar year in 2016, where he was a part of the inaugural AFL New Zealand Premiership winning Western Crows. He also made his national debut for the New Zealand Falcons Senior and U18 teams that season.

Will has always displayed tremendous athleticism and work ethic even at a young age. In 2018 he was a standout player in the Red Bull Ignite 7’s earning himself a spot in the NZ Sevens Development Camp and in 2019 his hard work payed off, making his debut for the All Blacks Sevens.

After a short stint with the All Blacks Sevens he became a regular selection and in 2021 won an Olympic Silver Medal with the side. He signed a contract with the Melbourne Storm, making the shift to Rugby League, where his AFL skills become a handy asset with his move to the wing. After spending the 2022 adjusting to the Rugby League, a string of strong preseason performances has resulted in earning his debut in the NRL.

See Will in action tonight on Sky Sport 4, as the Melbourne Storm take on the Paramatta Eels. Kickoff at 9:50pm
