Garry Carnachan Reappointed to AFL New Zealand Board

The AFL have recently reappointed AFL New Zealand Board Director Garry Carnachan for another Term.

Currently, Mr Carnachan is the Executive Director for the NZ Secondary Schools Sports Council.

NZSSSC is the sporting service organisation that co-ordinates, promotes and protects secondary school sport for students. Established, by schools, to act as guardian of the heritage and the values of secondary school sport, NZSSSC works with NSO’s to provide an annual calendar of 190 national or island level events. It advocates at all levels, including government ministers for school sport and provides support and professional development for all who work in school sport.

He is also a member of the NZ Olympic Committee – Education Commission providing strategic advice to NZOC on inspiring young New Zealanders to live the Olympic Values through sport and the celebration of the Olympic Games.

Mr Carnachan’s experience with promoting sport, particularly to school aged students has been of huge assistance in dealing with a competitive New Zealand sporting landscape. AFL New Zealand is confident Mr Carnachan will be an asset for the development of AFL within New Zealand and we welcome his involvement.

We wish Garry well in his next term with AFL New Zealand.
