Geoff Dickson reappointed to AFLNZ Board

Dr. Geoff Dickson, current Chairman of the AFL New Zealand Board of Directors, has been reappointed to the Board.

He is currently the longest serving Board member, having first been appointed in 2006, and subsequently reappointed for the first time in 2009.

In that period, he has been a tireless advocate for the development of AFL in New Zealand, and has been instrumental in setting the strategic plan that has seen the rapid growth of both AFL New Zealand as an organisation, and AFL as a sport in New Zealand.

AFL New Zealand CEO Robert Vanstam welcomed the reappointment.

“Working with Geoff has been a privilege, he has been on the board for almost a decade, and in that time our game has grown immensely. That is no coincidence, and at present we have an excellent Board of Directors, led very capably by Geoff. I look forward to continuing to work with Geoff and the Board.”

Dr Geoff Dickson, Ph.D, is an Associate Professor in Sport Management at AUT University, and an Associate Director of the New Zealand Tourism Research Institute. He is also the President of the Sport Management Association of Australia and New Zealand.

At the recent AFL New Zealand Community Awards, he was presented with an award, due to his long and valuable service.

He will serve a further four years on the AFL New Zealand Board of Directors.
