Giants retain a mix of youth and experience

The Central Giants have announced that they will add Auckland based players Blake Nahu, Brad Ingram, Tristan Burnett and Chris Bailey to their retained players list for the 2018 AFL New Zealand Premiership.

The players have been retained through Category 1 of the Retained Players List (RPL): Retention of Auckland based players who have not played for the New Zealand Senior team over the past 12 months.

Blake Nahu

The Central Giants have retained up and coming talent Blake Nahu for the 2018 AFL New Zealand Premiership season.

The 19 year old has a big impact in his two seasons in the Premiership and was awarded the Round 8 Rising Star for his consistency during this year’s competition.

Nahu has been a part of NZ Warriors development sides in the past and brings relative Rugby league skills over to the game of AFL.

Currently studying at the University of Waikato, Nahu has made two appearances at National Level with the U18’s and is making a big name for himself in the AFL New Zealand community.

Brad Ingram

Brad Ingram from the University Blues is a valuable key forward who can take strong aerial marks.

The 24 year old is an accurate shot on goal and with a healthy midfield delivering quality footy into the forward line, Ingram could be in contention for the Golden Boot award come the end of the season.

Tristan Burnett

28 year old Tristan Burnett will return to the Central Giants in 2018.

Burnett plays for the the Mt Roskill Saints in the Auckland AFL and is a tough player who throws himself into every contest and will link well with new Giants Captain and Mt Roskill team mate Samuel McKenzie in the midfield.

Chris Bailey

Midfielder Chris Bailey has been retained by the Central Giants.

The 30 year old is a hard running midfielder who can be utilised off the half back flank. His ability to link with the forwards is exceptional and this will play a key role for the side coached by Izaak Williams.

Bailey plays for the University Blues in the Auckland AFL and will aid the Giants midfield again in 2018.
