Giants reveal Co-Captains for 2021

The Central Giants have announced that Andrew Howison and Harison Manks wil co-captain the Premiership side for the 2021 season.

It is the first time in the competition’s history that two Captains have been named.

The Giants finished third in 2020 and will look to improve next season under the guidance of new coach Justin Gauci and the experience of two senior New Zealand representatives.

Andrew Howison


New Zealand Falcons Captain Andrew Howison was drafted to the Giants in 2020 and showed his class in his first game receiving best on ground from the umpires.

The talented midfielder returned home to Christchurch at the start of the year after spending 8 years living in Australia.

Whilst in Australia, Andrew played for Oakleigh Districts where he won a Grand Final in 2015 and was named best on ground in the same game.

More recently, Howison won back to back Premierships in 2018 and 2019 with the Dromana Tigers.

Andrew has won the Senior Men’s Player of the Year award for three straight years from 2014-2016.

Harison Manks


Harison Manks was a squad member of the Premiership winning Southern Saints in 2017 before moving to the Central Giants in 2018 where he won his second Premiership in as many years.

The 23 year old is a smart defender and is a strong mark who often leads the statistics in this category.

Manks made his debut for New Zealand during the ANZAC game against the AFL Academy in April 2017.
