Giants secure Auckland based talent trio

The Central Giants have locked in exciting talent, Mitch Weir, Tyrone Stubbs and Lachlan Salmon for the 2023 AFL New Zealand Men’s Premiership.

Aucklander Mitch Weir made his debut for the Central Giants in 2020 and has been a revelation in his two seasons in the national competition. Weir was a steal in the 2019 national draft and his form throughout the 2020 season saw him selected in the Premiership selection side to play the Redtails Footy Club back in March 2020.

From Auckland, Stubbs is a great addition to the Giants backline this season who will be looking forward to getting more out of him in 2023. He has a great attitude, runs hard all game, always putting in 2nd & 3rd Efforts, continues to make great tackles and takes strong defensive marks. An AFL New Zealand Rising Star from round 3 in 2020, Stubbs continues to develop his game through the Auckland AFL with the Uni Blues and is going to be pushing for NZ selection in the next few years.

Lachlan Salmon has great skills and fast on his feet. The 2021 Premiership winner will return next season and will be aiming to spend more time in the midfield. The former New Zealand Under 18 representative will have aspirations not only with the Giants but potential selection for the All Stars Falcons clash scheduled in April 2023.
