James Dixon has been announced as the Head Coach of the Central Giants for the 2020 AFL New Zealand Premiership.
Currently coaching the Howick Hornets in the Auckland AFL, James takes over the role from Izaak Williams who was a the helm for two years and led them to their first Premiership in 2018.
Originally from Australia, James started out his AFL career in New South Wales before heading to South Australia where he played for the Mclaren Vale Crushers.
A move north to Queensland saw James play for the Nambour Blues and the Maroochydore Roos for 4 years and finished his career back in Sydney as a player coach for the Camden Cats.
Having recently landed in Auckland, James found a new home at the Howick Hornets where he has implemented structures and processes to help develop the club and has liked what he has seen so far.
“I have been impressed so far this year with the quality of footy that I have seen in Auckland. There are some fantastic players who love the game and being part of a club and I am really excited to be part of the next level of competition in New Zealand.”
The 2020 AFL New Zealand Premiership begins on February 9th at North Harbour Stadium in Auckland.
