Giants stand tall as they stroll past the Suns

The Central Giants remain unbeaten in the 2021 Premiership, after they defeated the Northern Suns by 109 points in round 4 over the weekend.

The Giants were on the front foot from the start as they attacked the footy from the first bounce.

The Brandon’s were in the action early, as Brandon Sucu kicked 2 goals, while Brandon Phillips kicked his first of three early on.

It was an onslaught in the second term as the Giants surged forward, kicking 7 goals to 1. Star forward James Southby finished the game with 3 goals as Xavier Rice and Bailee Laurenson moved the ball forward from the midfield.

The young Suns duo of Tahlor Cahill (Ruck) and Ahku King (midfield) took the game on after the main break as they both had solid games. Coby Dodd stopped the rot for the Suns in the third term as he slotted through his first goal.

It was the day of the Giant though as they kicked another 9 goals in the second half to record their biggest win of the season.

The Suns now look ahead to next week, when they take on the Western Crows. The Giants set up a mouth watering clash against the Southern Saints.

The hero:

Xavier Rice continues to show that he is one of the best players in the country right now. The North Shore Tigers midfielder was everywhere throughout the game and is hard at the contest. Rice finished with 3 goals.

The support cast:

Priority pick, Brandon Sucu was dominant from the first bounce. He had 2 first quarter goals and was superb all around the ground.

The consolation effort:

Stand in Captain Tom Hayhoe fought hard all game and Ahku King played one of his best games in this year’s Premiership.

Say what?

“Even thought the scoreboard suggests it was an easy game, the Suns never gave in and worked hard in the second half. I had to remind the team to stay focused on the game plan.” Justin Gauci, Central Giants.

“Credit to the Giants coaching staff for tactical moves around the ground, enabling them to be dominant with their coast to coast movement and scoreboard engagements. Our lads fought hard but it was always going to be a tough day at the office.” Adem Manderovic, Suns Head Coach.
