The Counties Cluster tournament was played at Papatoetoe Sports Centre in great conditions for AFL. 62 boys from the different schools turned up to play.
Round 3 turned out to be the final between Aorere and Papatoetoe and see which team would come away with their first win with Southern Cross Campus playing Rosehill College
Rosehill with enough number to play didn’t have enough for their players to get the rest between games. However with that the game was a good battle with Rosehill never giving up keeping Southern Cross Campus scoreless in the second half but just missing out by a couple of points.
The game between Papatoetoe High School and Aorere College became the final for the Counties Cluster Title. Both teams had a great turn out of player numbers and spectators supporting. There wasn’t much between the teams throughout the whole of the game and it was Papatoetoe in the end edging past Aorere by just 2 points.
Special mention goes to Jesse Mager. A senior student of Papatoetoe High School and involved in the AFL NZ High performance programme taking on the responsibility of coaching the Papatoetoe team. Fantastic job well done!
