Howie on the road to recovery ahead of National Draft

191cm Daniel Howie will be another name entered into this years AFL New Zealand National Draft on November 21st and will join a raft of young talent that will be looking to book a spot in one of the four AFL New Zealand Premiership sides in 2018.

A development player during the 2017 competition, Howie played for the Northern Suns early in the competition before a host of injuries ruled him out of the AFL New Zealand Academy and national representation in April.

In January, Howie recorded a 10 minute 19 second three kilometre time trial which ranked him alongside top New Zealand senior players and for an athlete of his height, plus an array on strong on field traits, he will be on the radar of the coaching staff of all the four teams.

“Daniel has great endurance for a tall athlete and has been hindered in his development due to injuries over the past 12 months. If he can keep himself injury free during the Premiership, Daniel will be a valuable asset to any of the four sides” National Youth Manager Mick Coultard.

The National Draft will take place on November 21st.

The draft will be live via social media.
