Josh Morgan-Ranui signs with the Giants for 2023

The Central Giants have acquired the services of Josh Morgan-Ranui for the 2023 Men’s Premiership season.

Josh played for the Northern Suns in 2021 and had an outstanding season in the Red and Gold.

Josh has represented New Zealand at Academy, U18 and New Zealand Senior Falcons and was named the U17 New Zealand Player of year in 2017.

In 2019, Josh made the move to Melbourne to further his football career, where he played for the St. Kilda City Football Club.

“My time playing at St Kilda was definitely better than I expected. From under 19’s to senior level, footy is played at a high level and the coaching staff for all teams are great and really get behind you to help with your skills and your overall game knowledge.”

“I have some great memories from during my time at St. Kilda. We won the U19 Premiership and I made my senior debut. I made the U19’s Inter league team, which consists of the top 25 under 19 players in the southern league which I was stoked to be a part of!”

Off the back of the Southern Saints making the move to Canterbury, Josh would love to see a team based in Wellington, made up of local talent.

Yeah I think personally it’s a great idea for Welly to follow suit. It also makes training better for the boys being in one team so we can all train to one game plan.”

The Men’s Premiership season kicks off on February 19, 2023.
