The Inaugural AFL Women’s competition begins on Friday night with Carlton playing Collingwood at Ikon Park and Kiwi Moana Hope is ready to go.
The 28 year old Collingwood marquee signing will make history on Friday night as Collingwood take on Carlton in the first ever match in the AFL Women’s competition.
A dynamic forward, Moana has patrolled the forward line for over 10 years in the Women’s Victorian league and has regularly amassed large hauls of goals throughout the seasons. This includes 74 goals in 2006, 67 goals in 2007, 71 goals in 2008, 40 goals in 2012, 87 goals in 2014, 68 goals in 2015. Moana kicked over 100 goals in 2016 and promises plenty in the new competition.
Hope had a final hit out last week against the Western Bulldogs and the Kiwi managed to kick a goal for her side in the 10 point defeat but enjoyed getting some game preparation before the season opener on Friday.
The eight-team competition will see all teams play each other once, before the top two play off in the Grand Final on March 25th.
NZ viewers can watch Moana set the competition on fire through the AFL Live App on their mobile device.
