Kiwis Set to Star in Top of the Table AFLW Clash

Season 7 of the AFLW is almost at the end of its regular season and the competition is heating up. With only 3 games left before finals, every win counts, and this Friday we are set to watch what could be a game worthy of being the Grand Final.

The top of the table clash between the Brisbane Lions (best attacking side) and the Adelaide Crows (best defending side), sees two of the heavyweights of the AFLW collide, with the winner of the contest to take top spot on the ladder.

Both teams feature New Zealand Heritage players, who are among some the best performers this season.

Jesse Wardlaw of the Brisbane Lions, is a goal kicking machine, currently sitting on top as the best Goal Kicker this season, and her accuracy from the boot makes her one of the most dangerous forwards in the competitions.

Dee Heslop joined the Lions in the last draft class, and has been quick to prove her worth. A pre-season of hard work and the right opportunity saw Heslop called up to make her Brisbane Lions debut in Round 2 last Sunday. She slotted comfortably into the Lions’ defensive unit as they claimed a 47-point victory against the Giants. Heslop said the debut was a special moment for her.

The AFLW 2019 Top Goalkicker Stevie-Lee Thompson from the Adelaide Crows has played in the centre for most of this season. One of the teams’ leaders she continues to be one of the most consistent performers on the park.

Najwa Allen also plays a pivotal role in the backs for the Crows who are currently the best defensive team in the competition and concede, on average, only17.25 points per game.

The game starts at 10:30 pm on Sky Sport 9
