The Melbourne Dees fought back against a valiant Brisbane Lions team to come away with their first premiership.
Brisbane got off to a flying start kicking 2 goals in the first quarter, and looked like they were going to run away with it. However that was not to be as the Dees did not allow another goal for the rest of the game, clawing their way back over the next quarters to be leading by 2 points at the end of 3 quarter time. The fourth quarter turned into an arm wrestle with both teams making huge defensive efforts to keep the game close, with Melbourne maintaining their lead to come away victorious.
New Zealand Heritage player Lauren Pearce was immense in the ruck bodying out her opposition to win countless taps and get her team going forward.
