Nominees for 2019 AFL New Zealand Rising Star

AFL New Zealand would like to congratulate the following nominees for the 2019 AFL New Zealand Rising Star.

 

The winner will be announced at the 2019 High Performance Awards which will be held on Saturday the 6th of April at AUT University in Auckland City.

Brad Maloney

Brad Maloney is on the fast track to big things within the footy community.

The 16 year old represented the Level 2 Academy and was named best on ground for game 1 last year.

Brad has a great game understanding for such a young player and will look to continue to develop his game with goals of making the New Zealand Senior side in the future.

A student from Rosehill College in Auckland, Brad is a fast athlete with excellent skills.

 

Caleb Macpherson

Cantabrian Caleb Macpherson was a recent recipient of the Rising Star award in the Premiership after showing his potential for the Western Crows in round 5 this year.

Standing at 194cm, Caleb has represented the AFL New Zealand Level 2 Academy during ANZAC weekend and with further skill development, the 16 year old could make a big impact in the game in years to come.

 

Doug McJorrow

Doug McJorrow is from Wellington and has represented both the AFLNZ Academy Level 1 (Captain) and Level 2 sides.

The 16 year old received the round 2 Rising Star in this year’s Premiership and was the recipient of this award last year in Wellington.

At such a young age, Doug has great speed and skill execution and will continue to develop his game.

 

Jaydn Robson

Jaydn Robson was the Captain of the New Zealand Level 1 Academy side during the 2018 ANZAC Campaign and is fast making his name for himself in the footy community.

The 16 year old has been playing as a development player in the 2019 Premiership competition and was a squad member of the victorious Wellington City Saints in the Wellington league in 2018.

 

Xavier Bryham

Xavier Bryham is from Orewa College in Auckland and won the Rising Star award in round 1 of the Premiership this year.

The 16 year old Aucklander been playing as a development player at the highest level and has shown maturity and experience well above his age.

Xavier is hard at the contest and is willing and determined to develop his game through the AFL Academy along with taking his opportunities to play in the Premiership.
