A new AFL New Zealand venue has been established at North Harbour Stadium in partnership with Auckland Stadiums.
In what will be a massive boost for the sport, North Harbour Stadium will play host to a number of new initiatives including a new Regional Youth Competition and Auckland AFL matches as of October 18th 2015.
With games featuring on Sundays, the schedule continues after Christmas with the Youth Competition, the AFL New Zealand Academy and the inaugural 2016 AFL New Zealand Premiership commencing in February.
The season will culminate in late April with the international representative calendar which will feature New Zealand teams competing against a number of touring Australian associations.
Recently AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan spoke at the Australian Press Club on international strategy and the role Auckland could play in the future development of AFL within New Zealand.
