Northland talents claims round 2 Rising Star

The AFL New Zealand Rising Star award will be awarded weekly to a standout young player in the 2020 AFL New Zealand Premiership.

Each week the award will be allocated to those who show ability that favours the core components it takes to become an AFL Player. To be eligible to be nominated for the award, a player must be born in 2001 or younger.

The AFL New Zealand Rising Star award for round 2 of the 2020 AFL New Zealand Premiership has been awarded to Reef Bainbridge from the Northern Suns.

The speedy winger from Whangarei has only been playing the game a short time but has made a big impact so far playing in his first season of the Premiership.

In his first two games this season, Reef has been hard at the contest and created multiple opportunities down the flank. His latest game against the Crows saw Reef feature in the Team of the week.

“Reef is absolutely fearless, ferocious, and his second, third, fourth efforts would put seasoned veterans to shame. We are absolutely excited to have such an enthusiastic talent not only on our list but part of the heavy contribution on the field.” Adem Manderovic, Northern Suns Head Coach.

AFL New Zealand asked Reef a couple of questions during the week.
