Pelorus Trust Continues To Support The Growth Of AFL In Wellington

AFL New Zealand would like to thank Pelorus Trust for their continued support in the development of AFL within New Zealand.

The funding provided by the Trust directly assists AFL New Zealand with the storage of resources for AFL community programmes within the Wellington region.

From Primary Schools to local adult club level, AFL New Zealand offers a wide range of different community programmes for both Men and Women, boys and girls, to be a part of.

Since the inception of AFL KiwiKick for boys and girls aged between 5 and 12 in 2009, many of the early participants have now gone on to be involved with AFL at Youth or Secondary School level. Development of participation pathways is a high priority for AFL New Zealand, and through the Pelorus Trust funding we continue to work towards ensuring that a long term pathway exists for all.

The fundamental skills of ‘Kick, Catch, Pass and Bounce’ are utilised throughout the AFL KiwiKick Programme and are transferable to a wide range of sports. Organised lesson plans, volunteer retention initiatives, resource kits and coaching accreditation are all features of the AFL KiwiKick Programme.

Our thanks to Pelorus Trust for their on going support.
