Regardless of age or ability, there are opportunities to Play AFL at your local Play AFL Club.

Play AFL Clubs have been developed as a hub for AFL in the community. The whole family can play. Children play games of AFL KiwiKick with children from other schools. Competitions of AFL 9s are available for male, female and mixed teams in both teenage and open age grades. All modules take place at the same venue.

AFL New Zealand is pleased to announce the opening of Play AFL Clubs at various North Island locations. Each Play AFL Club is located in an area where AFL New Zealand has delivered structured coaching programmes to primary and secondary school students.

Play AFL Clubs are located in:

AFL KiwiKick teaches children aged 5-12 the fundamental movement skills of kick, catch, pass and bounce. At Play AFL Clubs AFL KiwiKick is designed to get children playing full games of AFL KiwiKick with peers of a similar age, in a social and fun environment. Enter as an individual and we will put you in a team.

Teenagers aged 12-14 and 14-17 can play full games of AFL 9s. An Open Grade will also be operating, so adult teams of friends, workmates and family can compete against other teams.  Entries can be into mixed, male or female competitions, as an individual or as part of a team.

AFL 9s is the game for everyone. Based on the traditional rules of AFL, AFL 9s reduces the contact and increases the speed. The field is smaller and the game is shorter. AFL 9s is fast, fun and great for fitness.
