Regional Teams to compete in Christchurch

Regional Teams from Otago, Canterbury and Wellington will travel to Christchurch this weekend competing in a round robin tournament over a two day period.

Along with regional bragging rights, the opportunity exists for players to be recruited into one of the four national squads competing in the 2019 AFL New Zealand Premiership season commencing in February 2019.

The competition moves through 9 Rounds, culminating in the Grand Final played at QBE Stadium on April 14th.

A number of Premiership Coaching staff will be on hand to view the performances as they scan a list of potential candidates for the AFLNZ Premiership Secondary Draft to take place early in the new year.

New Zealand coaching staff will also be interested in unearthing rough diamonds that may be discovered at the Regional matches.

The pathway exists to then develop newly discovered talent through the AFLNZ Premiership with the potential to be added to a very competitive New Zealand squad.

Matches will take place at North Hagley Oval commencing Saturday 11.15am.
