South Pacific Cup Results Day 2

Tony Ireland Stadium – Townsville, Tuesday 9th April

Day two saw Papua New Guinea play Oceania in an extremely close encounter that finished in a draw. PNG polish was evident all day but the Oceania side worked extremely hard and pressured PNG into mistakes and capitalised. Probably the game of the carnival so far. The New Zealand team were involved with testing for the day.

Game 4:

Papua New Guinea 7-8-50 Drew Oceania 7-8-50

Terrific contest between PNG and Oceania. Close all day with Oceania 13 points ahead with 5min to go. PNG hit back to be 1 point up with 40 seconds left. Oceania muscled the ball forward to see PNG kick the ball out on the full as the siren went. Ryan Bonga (Vanuatu) had a kick after the siren and managed to score a behind to Tie the match. A fitting end to a magnificent game where both teams gave it their absolute all!
