Star Waitakere duo remain at the Crows for 2021

Shane Leat and Josh Copeland, who are stars at local Auckland club, the Waitakere Magpies have been retained by the Western Crows for the 2021 AFL New Zealand Premiership.

Shane Leat

Shane Leat has come a long way from his first experience playing AFL for Kelston Boys’ High School.

Now a regular in the Senior New Zealand set up, this speedy midfielder has been a key contributor to the Western Crows over the past five seasons and is always committed to the job.

In 2016, Shane was a winning member of the Inaugural AFL New Zealand Premiership Cup in April, followed later that year with further success captaining his local Auckland club side, the Waitakere Magpies to the AAFL Premiership in an undefeated season.

Josh Copeland

Former Number 1 Draft pick (2017) Josh Copeland has been retained for another season.

It will be his fifth season with the Crows after a one year stint with the Northern Suns in 2016.

The 23 year old is a key defender in the backline and his talent fly’s under the radar.

Copeland has represented New Zealand at both U16 and U18 level and is yet to break through to the senior side.
