The Southern Saints have won back to back games over the Western Crows after a blistering start in round 4 of the national competition.
The Saints kicked 5 goals in the opening term as they held the Crows to only 2 points. Forwards Justin Du Toit and Harley Jenkins were both key targets up front as the Saints midfield of Carlos Donnell-Brown and Michael Boyce drove the ball forward.
The Crows had a number of opportunities in front of goal during the first half but were unable to convert, due to some inaccuracy off the boot.
It was a much closer second half, as the Crows gained some momentum to close the gap. Young James Scott continues to develop in the Crows midfield, while Kris Wilder and Brendan Clark found some form in the forward line.
The Saints pushed forward in the final term and kicked 3 goals to 1 to secure the win, as they strive to become back back Premiers.
Kiko Hibbs and Jarrad Watkins both had strong games for the Saints.
The Saints now face the Central Giants in round 5, in what will be a blockbuster.
Clayton Hicks was tremendous all game in defence. Hicks managed a number of intercept marks and helped relieve pressure out from the Saints backline.
The support cast:
Former Captain, Michael Boyce was running amok in the midfield. Tough, gritty and determined, Boyce played out of his skin.
