The Southern Saints have announced the retention of regional players James Southby and Hayden Johnston for the 2020 AFL New Zealand Premiership.
The pair have been retained under the (RPL) category 3.
RPL Category 3 is the retention of Regional based players.
Hayden Johnston
The Southern Saints have retained the services of Hayden Johnston for the 2020 AFL New Zealand Premiership.
The 20 year old from Otago is one of New Zealand’s bright young talents who has the potential to make a big name for himself in the AFL New Zealand community.
With the International Cup coming up in 2020, Johnston could be in for a showing in the squad if he excels in the Premiership next season.
James Southby
Cantabrian James Southby has been retained by the Southern Saints for the first time.
Playing in his debut season in 2019, Southby was a revelation playing at centre half forward for the grand finalists.
James kicked 12 goals for the season and feeling more comfortable in the competition, expect him to do big things in 2020.
