Tucker drafted #1 as Crows select good mix of talent

The Western Crows have drafted a good mix of talent to their side for the 2018 AFL New Zealand Premiership.

 

Jake Tucker, Vandyn Hartman, Brad Mavor and Jed Williams have all joined the 2016 Premiership winning side and will add value in key areas around the field.  

 

Category 1: Jake Tucker

Position: Forward

Jake Tucker is the 2017 number one AFL New Zealand Draft pick.

Having spent 3 years in the AFL Academy programme, Tucker has now graduated and is one of the shining lights for the North Shore Tigers in the Auckland AFL.

Jake received the Rising Star award in the 2017 AFL New Zealand Premiership playing as a development player and his effective kicking and sharp handballs drew praise from Senior New Zealand Coach Rob Malone.

Make sure you keep an eye out for this young talent on the footy field during the 2018 season.

 

Category 2: Vandyn Hartman

Position: Midfield

Vandyn ‘Diesel’ Hartman has been drafted by the Western Crows for the 2018 AFL New Zealand Premiership.

The 2011 AFL International Cup squad member will make his debut in the 2018 Premiership but has a rich history of playing AFL in New Zealand.

Vandyn plays for the Manurewa Raiders in the Auckland AFL and is a tough midfielder which great skills who can run all day.

Hartman will be a good fit for the Western Crows midfield where he will link up key midfielders Jay Johnson, Shane Leat and ruckman Ty Smith.

 

Category 3: Brad Mavor

Position: Forward

Cantabrian Brad Mavor being drafted to the Western Crows is a big coup for the 2016 Premiers.

After a stunning debut season in the 2017 Premiership, the key forward Brad was selected in the ‘2017 Team of the Year’ and followed that up with selection in the New Zealand national side to play the AFL academy in April.

The 23 year old was a recent 2017 Canterbury AFL Premiership winner with the Christchurch Bulldogs.

 

Category 4: Jed Williams

Position: Forward

Cantabrian Jed Williams will be a Western Crow for the first time in the 2018 AFL New Zealand Premiership.

Jed plays for the Eastern Blues Football Club in the Canterbury AFL and is a strong, versatile player who plays a number of key positions around the ground.

Known for his long accurate kick and a great team player, Williams will be a handy addition to getting the Crows back to Premiership glory in 2018.
