U18 NZ Falcons Coaching staff announced

Izaak Williams has been reappointed as the head coach for the U18 NZ Falcons for their 2020 tour to Melbourne in April. 2019 assistant coach Callum Hill and 2020 Southern Saints head coach Sean Mayes will assist Izaak on the tour.

 

The squad will arrive in Melbourne on April 21st and play two games against leagues from the Mornington Peninsula. The squad will also attend the ANZAC Dawn Service, Essendon vs Collingwood on ANZAC Day and be in attendance for the NZ Falcons vs the AFL Academy at Marvel Stadium on April 26th.

 

Izaak Williams – Head Coach

Izaak Williams is the current head coach of the Central Giants and took on the role in 2018 where he guided them to their first Premiership winning eight out of their nine games.

From Canterbury, Izaak has been involved with the sport in New Zealand for almost 10 years.

Williams has represented New Zealand at Under 20 level and also Canterbury at Provincial level but injuries have prevented him from being able to showcase his full potential in the playing arena.

His focus turned to coaching and in 2017 worked under New Zealand National and Central Giants head coach Rob Malone where he developed his craft.

Williams has a focus on setting up a good culture within the teams he coaches which he says sets up a solid foundation.

 

Callum Hill – Assistant Coach

Callum Hill has been the assistant coachof the U18 side for the past 2 years and is starting to flourish into an all round coach.

Based in Brisbane, Callum is the Women’s head coach at the Redcliffe Tigers Football Club.

 

Sean Mayes – Assistant Coach

Sean Mayes is the current head coach of the Southern Saints in the AFLNZ Premiership and also the head coach of the North Shore Tigers in the Auckland AFL.

Sean made his coaching debut in 2019 and helped steer the Crows to their second Premiership alongside Head Coach Chris Mundell.
