Waitakere Magpies huge fundraiser for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The Waitakere Magpies have had an incredible month this October both on and off the field. Over the month of October, the Magpies have been raising funds for the Breast Cancer Foundation, and have done an amazing job, holding different events and fundraisers to raise as much money as possible.

Many members within of the club have had direct or indirect experiences with breast cancer and have witnessed the impact it can have on individuals and their families, and it has motivated the Magpies to take action. The Waitakere Magpies believe that, by raising funds and awareness, we can contribute to the ongoing efforts to combat this disease.

The Breast Cancer Foundation is an organization that resonates with us due to its phenomenal work in research, patient support, and public education. Their commitment to finding a cure and providing crucial support to those affected by breast cancer is truly commendable. We want to shine a light on their tireless efforts and make a meaningful contribution to further their mission.

Throughout the month of October, the club has organised a series of events and ideas to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Foundation. The club started with kick for a cure, where a player got sponsored for every goal kicked during the month of October, the Magpies changed their socks to pink with players donating themselves for their pair of socks as well Shave for a cure which saw 6 players shave their heads.

We believe that together, as a community, we can make a positive impact in the fight against breast cancer. By coming together to support the Breast Cancer Foundation, we can help improve the lives of those affected by this disease and work toward a future where breast cancer is no longer a threat.

The Magpies set out to raise $1,000 for the Breast Cancer Foundation, and support for their fundraising campaign have far exceeded their expectations with donations currently sitting at just over $4,000. With only a couple days to go in their fundraising campaign, the Auckland AFL has jumped on board.
