The Western Crows retain co coaches Chris Mundell and Justin Gauci for the 2024 AFL New Zealand Premiership
The current head coach of the NZ Falcons, Chris was in charge during their 2019 Premiership tilt, winning the first ever Premiership Grand Final.
With over eight years of professional coaching experience, Chris Mundell holds an AFL Level 2 coaching accreditation and has become a prominent figure within New Zealand’s AFL landscape.
Initially entering into the AFL New Zealand High Performance Programme in an assistant coaching capacity, Chris has progressed to take on the head coaching role for the New Zealand Under 18 team, the Auckland Buccaneers at a National Provincial level and Auckland AFL coach with the University Blues.
In a playing capacity Chris has represented New Zealand at the 2011 and 2014 International Cups as well campaigns against the AFL Academy.
Justin Gauci was a foundation player for the Western Crows in 2016 before making the transition into coaching. Gauci was thrust into the role as Central Giants head coach in 2021 and after making some strong selections in the pre-season draft, he led them to their second Premiership, losing only 1 game along the way.
During his time in New Zealand, Justin has volunteered with local footy and the AFL New Zealand Youth and Academy Programme. He has played a monumental role in coaching the North Shore Tigers which has seen the club win back to back AAFL premierships in undefeated seasons. Justin was also the head coach for the New Zealand U18’s side in their recent tour in Melbourne.
The duo led the side to the grand final last season, but fell just short of the title, and will be working hard to take the crows all the way in 2024.
