Programme Details
When does the programme run?
The AFL Kiwikick After-School Programme runs for five consecutive weeks, with sessions held on the same day each week. Each session is one hour in duration.
Who do I contact if I need help on the day?
Upon registration, you will receive a confirmation email containing the contact details of the AFL New Zealand staff member responsible for delivering the programme. They will be your primary point of contact for any questions or assistance throughout the programme.
When will my child receive their AFL Kiwikick Players Pack?
Participants will receive their AFL Kiwikick Players Pack, including a football and backpack, during the fourth or fifth session. If a participant is unable to attend the final session, AFL New Zealand will ensure their pack is available to be collected from the school office within the week.
Safety and Collection
What is the Saftey PIN and why do I need it?
During registration, you created a four-digit Safety PIN. Staff will ask for this PIN at the end of each session to confirm your child is being collected by an authorised person. Please share the PIN with anyone who may collect your child.
What happens if someone else is collecting my child?
Simply share your Safety PIN with them before the session. Staff will verify the PIN before releasing your child.
What if I am running late?
If you are delayed, please contact the regional AFL Participation Coordinator as soon as possible so we can ensure your child remains safely supervised until collection.
My child attends after-school care following the programme. How will they get there?
If your child attends an onsite after-school care programme, AFL New Zealand staff can assist them in making their way to the designated after-school care location at the conclusion of each session. Please ensure this information is provided during registration or communicated to the on-site staff member before the programme begins so appropriate arrangements can be made.
What to Wear and Bring
What should my child wear and bring?
Please ensure your child comes prepared for outdoor physical activity:
- Comfortable sports clothing suitable for running and active play.
- Appropriate footwear, such as trainers or sports shoes (no Crocs).
- A full water bottle for every session.
What happens to lost property?
Any lost property found during or after a session will be available at the next session or handed in to the school office. Please check there if your child is missing any belongings.
Weather and Cancellations
Do sessions run in wet weather?
Yes. Sessions will proceed in most weather conditions, including light rain. Programmes will only be postponed if severe weather or unsafe conditions make it necessary.
How will I know if a session is cancelled
If a session needs to be postponed, families will be notified by 12:00pm on the day via email. Every effort will be made to reschedule cancelled sessions.
Attendance
What if my child cannot attend a session?
Please contact the regional AFL Participation Coordinator as soon as possible. Early notice helps us plan sessions effectively.
Programme Confirmation
Is the programme guaranteed to run?
The programme is subject to minimum participant numbers. If enrolments fall below the required number, AFL New Zealand may postpone or cancel the programme.
How much notice will families receive?
Families will be notified at least 72 hours before the first session if the programme is unable to proceed.
What Happens if the full programme is cancelled?
If we have to cancel the programme prior to its commencement, we will email you directly.
How do refunds work?
Full refunds will be provided to registered participants if the AFL Kiwikick After-School Programme is cancelled prior to commencement. A full refund will be issued to the original payment method within 3-5 business days.
