Youth Programme Dates

Starting on Sunday 29th October and every other Sunday for 8 weeks

Sunday 10th December will see all Auckland Centers comes together for a day at North Harbour Stadium

Canterbury – No session November 18 for Canterbury Anniversary Weekend

All Wednesday sessions will start at 4:30pm and finish at 6:00pm

Venues and Timings

Youth competitions will be held in three centres in Auckland as well as centres in Christchurch and Wellington. Please see below associated venues.

Team Uniforms

AFL New Zealand will provide playing uniforms for the games. The uniforms will be handed out by the team manager. At the end of each session they will be collected and with a roster system designated to participants to wash uniforms and return the following week.

What to bring

Please wear your AFL New Zealand Youth Top to the grounds. (These will be distributed in Round 1).

Players should bring a;

  • Mouthguard,
  • Black football socks
  • Boots
  • Water bottle (Labelled)
Parent & volunteer involvement

The participants and registration form will include opportunities for involvement for parents and guardians for those who would like to increase their involvement. All necessary training and information will be provided (you do not have to have a background in AFL to be a great volunteer) and your attendance will be on a rostered basis.

Medical Consent & Player Code of Conduct

It is a requirement prior to playing that all participants complete the AFLNZ Medical declaration & Player Code of Conduct forms

Please complete these forms and send them through to youth@aflnz.co.nz. Alternatively, you can sign & return the forms to the grounds on Round 1.

AFL Club Links for those born 2007

Each club in Auckland, Canterbury and Wellington will appoint a Youth Competition Liaison Officer actively involved with those participating for the duration of the Junior Competition.

Those born in 2007 will be transitioning from Junior to Senior Football will participate in a pathway involving;

  • Youth Competitions                                        (October to December 2023)
  • AFLNZAcademy                                             (February to April 2024)
  • AFLNZ Premiership Development Player      (February to April 2024)
  • Senior Club Competitions                              (August 2024)
