NAB AFL National U16 Championships Underway

NAB AFL National Under 16 Championships have started with 8 New Zealand boys representing in the U16 South Pacific Side.

Kade Riddell, Ben Middleton, Kieran Brunel, Stormy Reti, Te Rei Clark, Walter Fifita (pictured above), Siope Ngata, Tevita Misiloi

All NZ players were selected from the AFL NZ High Performance programme and their representation in the U16 New Zealand Hawks.

Pre Championship

In the lead up to round 1 of the Championships the South Pacific team played a practice match against the Sydney Hills Eagles U18 team at Greater Western Sydney Blacktown.

Certainly a great start to the campaign.

Round 1

Round 1 of the NAB AFL National Under 16 Championships being held at Blacktown International Sports Park, Sydney, saw the South Pacific take on the Flying Boomerangs.

The game was a tight struggle all day with the lead changing many times. The Boomerangs eventually came out 14 point winners. The South Pacific Side fought very hard all day and played some very exciting football. In the end the Boomerang team were a bit cleaner with possession and finished off their hard work with Goals.

Round 2 see’s the South Pacific Taking on the World Side who had a solid performance and victory over 2012 Champions WA North West. This will be a very good challenge for the South Pacific Boys.
