Week 9 Youth results

In the penultimate week of the AFL New Zealand Youth Competition, we saw the Girls and Boys mix it up again in Auckland, while down in Wellington young Ryan Awatere kicked 9 goals to help his side score a big win.

U13 Boys and U17 Girls:

Once again the boys and girls banded together out at Parrs Park to develop their skills and have a joint game. U18 Kahu Captain had a solid game up front by kicking 4 goals for the Bulldogs. Benjamin Rayner and Tom Hack combined to get 6 goals in total to give the Lions the victory.

For the Tigers,  Issac Piper continues to kick goals each week and for the second time in 3 weeks, newcomer Bronson Hewitson was awarded player of the day for the Tigers.

In the penultimate round of the competition it is good to see improved skill and game knowledge. Both teams showed a strong fight with improved skills but most impressive was the ability for all players to work within their teams to build plays, find space and shepherd their teammates.

The Saints ended up on top with an impressive display of goal kicking from Ryan Awatere as he scored 9 of the 12 goals for the Saints. During the last quarter the Bulldogs did not give up and fought back after slotting a few nice goals.
